Will Peaky Blinders, Selling Sunset and other top Netflix shows be back this year?
From the return of the powerful Bridgerton family, to the comeback of Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinder’s, to sci-fi cult favourite Stranger things.
Here are the highly anticipated top Netflix shows set to arrive on Netflix this year:
Peaky Blinders
On New Year’s Day, the BBC dropped the season six trailer. Under a crackle of thunder, Tommy Shelby emerges with a Tommy gun and fires up at the sky.
Early 2020, filming was due to start on what is the final season but was pushed back due to the pandemic.
However, creator Steven Knight has already stated the drama will be back sometime in early 2022 so there shouldn't be too much longer to wait.
The full trailer shows a number of cast members back, including Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray.
There's also a snippet of special guest star Stephen Graham, with the trailer confirming once again that series six will be the show's final season.
Peaky Blinders series six hasn't been given an official release date – though there are plenty of signs that it's coming soon, with all promotional material telling us it will be premiering 'early' in the year.
There's no official release date for Peaky Blinders 6 yet, but so far it's been teased for early 2022.
Selling Sunset
Selling Sunset season 5 is officially happening!
After season 4 dropped on Netflix this winter, the Oppenheim real-estate agents have confirmed that there's, even more, to look forward to, as season 5 is on its way too.
Despite the bad news that Christine Quinn may be exiting the show.
Season 5 has wrapped filming, so it won’t be too long until the drama about the lives of the top real estate agents at L.A.’s The Oppenheim Group is back on our screens.
Cast members Jason and Brett Oppenheim, Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald, Romain Bonnet, Heather Rae El Mousa, Amanza Smith, Maya Vander, Davina Potratz, Emma Hernan and Vanessa Villela will return for Season 5.
Chrishell Stause recently shared an Instagram post saying, “Season 5 won’t be too long of a wait! We just wrapped filming!”
There is no confirmed release date for season 5.
Bridgerton
The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society.
During Season one, the main character Daphne Bridgerton arranges a fake courtship with the brooding Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.
Wealth, lust, and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency-era England, seen through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family.
Season 2 means It’s time for another Bridgerton sibling to tie the knot, and all eyes are on Anthony, the eldest brother who has decided to marry for practicality, not for love. That is, until he meets Kate Sharma.
It has been confirmed to drop on Netflix on March 25.
Stranger Things
The much-loved sci-fi horror TV series, Stranger Things is finally coming back for a season 4 — nearly three years after the premiere of season 3.
Production on the fourth season of Stranger Things was halted due to the pandemic back in March 2020, like so many other series. Luckily, filming started back up again in late September — which means that we’re going to get more from the Upside Down when the series returns sometime in 2022.
Sneak peeks of Stranger Things 4 has revealed what fans of the show can expect from this season, including, Hopper’s return, Russia, Will’s growth spurt, and the potential comeback of Eleven’s powers.
As of January 2022, there's still no news on when Stranger Things 4 will be released beyond the summer 2022 rumours.
Ozark
The series stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, a married couple who relocate their family to the Lake of the Ozarks for money laundering.
Bateman also serves as a director and executive producer for the series.
Ozark has received largely positive reviews from critics, with praise towards its tone, acting, directing, and writing. The series has received 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations including two for Outstanding Drama Series.
Season 4, which is the final season, will premiere in January with seven new episodes.
