Will maintain status quo and peace with Mizoram, says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Hours after reports of stone-pelting on Assam officials in the border areas on Monday, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he spoke to his Mizoram counterpart, saying, "Assam will maintain the status quo."

"I have just spoken to hon’ble chief minister Zoramthanga ji. I have reiterated that Assam will maintain the status quo and peace between the borders of our state," Sarma said.

He added, "I have expressed my willingness to visit Aizawl and discuss these issues if need be."

This came following reports of stone pelting on Assam govt officials stationed at Lailapur.
