Will Love Island be on our screens this summer?

Despite the coronavirus pandemic cancelling lots of events and television shows, Love Island bosses are still planning the summer series to go ahead, it has been reported.

This year marks the first time Love Island is due to have two seasons - a winter and summer version but will the second one of the year still go ahead?

The first series aired back in January which saw blonde beauty Paige Turley become the first Scottish winner with her boyfriend Finn Tapp.

The pair are still very much loved up as they self-isolate at Paige's family home in West Lothian.

But viewers have raised concerns that they will not get their summer fix of the ITV2 dating show, which sees hopefuls head to a plush villa in Majorca, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The UK is entering its fourth week of lockdown, and it's reported that on Thursday the government will announce that lockdown will continue for at least another three weeks.

But ITV are reportedly keen to continue with the show and keep the nation entertained.

A source has now told  The Daily Star  that the production team is doing "everything possible" to prepare for the new series.

They said: "It's a difficult time but it's a case of 'all systems go'. They're determined not to let the virus stop the series going ahead."

As lockdown means face-to-face meetings with potential contestants are a ' no-go', recruiters are using video calls for the interview process.

Love Island won't be airing in June as it usually does, and there were rumours the start date had been shifted to July.

The insider added: "It can be put back again and again. If the series can't air until right at the end of the year, then so be it. It will still happen."
