Will LeBron James return to USA Basketball after quarterfinals loss in FIBA World Cup?

Could Wednesday’s quarterfinal loss by the United States Men’s basketball team in the FIBA World Cup at the hands of France be the final straw to get LeBron James and other superstars back into the fold for the 2020 Olympics?

James has kept the door open to potentially playing for the United States at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, as he skipped out on participating in the World Cup so that he could focus on filming “Space Jam 2.” He posted earlier this month that he loves representing his country.

James hasn’t played for the United States since the 2012 Olympics in London but America’s first basketball loss since 2006 may be something that James wants to help the program overcome. James was part of a disappointing USA run at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and the Redeem Team at the 2008 Olympics, so his experience in helping the program overcome a loss on the international level could help USA win the gold in Japan.
