The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato was a huge surprise when it debuted in late 2022. The high-riding off-road supercar arrived at the tail end of the Huracán’s run, acting as the perfect send-off for the popular supercar. By all accounts, the Sterrato was a huge success, which may be enough reason for Lamborghini to bring it back.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in an interview earlier this year that a Temerario Sterrato is "not in the plans today, but never say never." The automaker is famous for pumping out special iterations of its supercar, and we expect nothing different with the Temerario—it just might be several years before a Sterrato version arrives.
Winkelmann said it is "always a matter of if we have the resources to do so," which shouldn’t be a challenge for the company coming off a successful year. Lamborghini ended last year with its highest revenue ever and a sales record.
We expect the company to focus on meeting demand for its new Temerario supercar before considering any variants. The Temerario is still a very new model, and other high-performance versions will arrive before the automaker considers any off-road upgrades. But until then, here is everything we know about the Temerario Sterrato.
What Will Lamborghini Call It?
Sterrato is a strong name for an off-road variant. The word means “dirt road” or “unpaved road” in Italian, which is fitting for the high-riding supercar. If Lamborghini develops a Temerario variant, we expect the automaker to reuse the Sterrato branding.
What Will It Look Like?
If the Huracán Sterrato is any indication, we expect the Temerario Sterrato to have similar styling and performance upgrades. In addition to the suspension lift, the supercar will likely have revised bumpers for improved approach and departure angles, a wider front and rear track, and all-terrain tires.

What Off-Road Upgrades Will The Temerario Sterrato Have?
In addition to a suspension lift of up to 2.0 inches, the car will likely have off-road upgrades similar to those of the Huracán Sterrato. That car came with a tweaked traction control system for loose surfaces, aluminum skid plates, auxiliary lights, and reinforced side sills.
A Temerario Sterrato would also likely have a repositioned air intake. Lamborghini moved the Huracan’s to the roof so it could pull in clean, dust-free air. Inside, we expect the automaker to add several off-road touches, like instruments for incline, pitch, roll, steering angle, and more.
What Will Power It?
We expect a Temerario Sterrato to feature the same powertrain as the non-off-road version, which means it will pack Lamborghini’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter plug-in hybrid V8. It pairs with three electric motors, boosting the combined output to 920 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.
The engine propels the supercar to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds and to a top speed of 211 mph. A Temerario Sterrato might have a bit less power than the standard model. The Huracán Sterrato made less power—28 hp—than the non-Sterrato variant, a result of the car’s special off-road needs.
When Will The Temerario Sterrato Debut?
We don’t expect a Temerario Sterrato to debut anytime soon. Winkleman himself said that such a car is "not in the plans today." While that is not a no, an off-road supercar isn’t at the top of the company’s to-do list right now.
The Huracán Sterrato arrived in 2023, nearly a decade after the car first went on sale, and lasted for just two years until Lamborghini ended Huracán production. If Lamborghini follows a similar schedule for an off-road Temerario, we don’t think a rugged version of the company’s entry-level supercar will debut until the mid-2030s.
