DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand High Court heard a Public Interest Litigation filed by environmentalist prof Ajay Rawat on the proposed ropeway from Ranibagh to Nainital by the tourism development board and the state government.
The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) filed its response in the court saying that it will take up the work and will inspect the entire project again.
Earlier, the court had made NHAI a party in the case and asked them to clarify the situation on the ropeway. NHAI told the court that the central government has entrusted it with the task of constructing projects related to the ropeway. For this, NHAI also gave a contract to the German Australian company in March 2022. Now, the authority will inspect the entire project again. The court has asked to present these facts through an affidavit. The next hearing in the matter has been fixed on October 20 and NHAI has been asked to submit the progress report.
