'Will hopefully be our No.1 one next season' - What Newcastle United fans are saying about Swansea City goalkeeper Freddie Woodman

Freddie Woodman kept his fifth clean sheet of the season in Swansea City's 1-0 South Wales derby win over Cardiff City on Sunday.

The goalkeeper made a fine stop to deny Gavin Whyte in the second half while also twice denying Bluebirds captain Sean Morrison to help Steve Cooper's men claim all three points at the Liberty Stadium.

And it seems the 22-year-old's efforts at SA1 haven't gone unnoticed in the North East.

The Englishman is currently on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, and the Magpies have enjoyed watching their young goalkeeper's progress in South Wales.

In an article on the club's official website, they commented: "Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman kept a clean sheet as Swansea City gained a 1-0 win against local rivals Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

"Ben Wilmot's glancing header secured three points for the Swans at the Liberty Stadium as Steve Cooper's side moved up to fourth in the Championship, two points adrift of league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

"Woodman, 22, has now gained five clean sheets so far this term following Swansea's derby triumph against their South Wales opponents."

Only Leeds United shot stopper Kiko Casilla has more clean sheets (seven) that Woodman in the Championship so far this term.

Newcastle and Swansea fans are having their say on the goalkeeper following his fine start to the campaign.

Woodman has featured in each of Swansea's 14 Championship games under Cooper so far this season.

He has kept shutouts against Derby County, Birmingham City, Leeds United, Bristol City and most recently Cardiff.
