Will he? Won't he? Notts County manager Neal Ardley discusses January transfer plans

Neal Ardley says he is not pushing for new signings in the January transfer window as he backed his Notts County squad to fire themselves out of their blip.

The Magpies are free to sign players from non-league now, but could look to sign better established quality in the New Year when EFL clubs can do business again.

With Notts currently five points off the top seven, some fans feel that pepping up the squad in January could set the club up for a strong finish to the season.

But Ardley says he has not considered it and is confident he has the players who are capable of ending their run of five games without a win in the National League.

“I honestly haven’t thought about it,” he said.

“I spend the money of the owners like it is my own.

“When we were slightly over budget and trying to get players out, that was my focus to help the wage bill.

“But if the owners came to me and wanted to put more in for various reasons then we will have that discussion.

“It’s not something I am pushing for or looking for at the moment.

“I think this group is capable of turning it around as long as we don’t concede rubbish goals.”
