Will Harris proud of being a leader at Boston College

Lions draft pick Will Harris brings more than just hard-hitting athleticism at his defensive back position. The third-round safety is just as proud of his leadership from his playing days at Boston College.

Harris talked up his leadership skills and experience in his post-draft conference call with the media.

“In the past, at B.C., I took a lot of pride in being a leader,” Harris told reporters. “Not just a vocal leader, but someone who also led by example, someone who was always there for his teammates, and put the team first, and always came in early and left late, took care of his body, was always in the film room and obviously making plays on the field, and just taking pride in being a pro throughout my time in college.”

Harris continued:

“Now that I’m officially in the League on the next level playing for a great organization, I plan to use some of those same aspects of just coming to work every day, pick out the best way of establishing being a leader. Just come to work every day and earn the respect of my new teammates who are there and do everything I can to contribute to the team and help the team win.”

There is a leadership void on the back end of the defense with Glover Quin’s departure. That’s a good opportunity for Harris to make an impact as a third-round rookie.
