Will Grier studied and borrowed from Patriots offense at West Virginia

Learning from the best is obviously something that every athlete wants to do. For West Virginia quarterback Will Grier, he did just that by watching film of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It even went to the extent where he and West Virginia’s offensive coordinator, Jake Spavital, picked some of the Patriots plays to run within their own offense.

“Me and Jake Spavital, my OC at West Virginia, watched a lot of Patriots film and built our offense off a lot fo what they [do],” Grier said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Grier also said that if he had the opportunity to play for New England that the opportunity to learn from Brady would be unfathomable.

“We watched a lot of Tom Brady film,” said Grier. “The opportunity to learn from a guy like that would obviously be priceless.”

The West Virginia quarterback is being valued as a late first-round, early second-round draft pick heading into the 2019 NFL draft. Based on how the draft board evolves, Grier could very well be available at the 32nd overall pick for the Patriots. If that happens and New England selects him, they will not just have a project on their hands but will have a young man that will be enthusiastic to play and learn behind the best to ever play the quarterback position.
