PATNA: The fourth monkeypox case detected in India (Delhi) has alerted the state health department. State health minister Mangal Pandey said his department was monitoring the situation in other parts of the country.
When asked about the people who come to Bihar from abroad and what steps the department will take for them, Pandey told TOI on Sunday, "No one directly enters Bihar and we will follow the Centre's guidelines."
Meanwhile, health experts advised people as well as the government to follow the protocols. State IMA senior vice-president Dr Ajay Kumar advised people to take precautions. He said it was similar to chickenpox. It is being detected in sexually active people, especially in gay or bisexual men.
As per the information shared by the ministry of health, the symptoms of monkeypox include fever, skin rashes starting from face and spreading to arms, legs, palms and soles, lymph node enlargement, headache, muscle ache or exhaustion, sore throat and cough.
The ministry also stated that there are three modes of transmission - direct physical contact (through contact with bodily fluid, sexual contact or lesion material), indirect contact (through contaminated clothing or linen of infected person) and large respiratory droplets as a result of prolonged close contact.
