Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig star in social distance soap opera with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig performed a soap opera while social distancing in their own homes on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

The Saturday Night Live alumni made a guest appearance on the late night talk show, where they took part in a comedy parody titled “The Longest Days of Our Lives” over video chat.

Mimicking the overly dramatic acting style and ridiculous plots typical of US soaps, the sketch saw the comedic stars multi-role as a group of characters caught up in a twisted love affair during coronavirus lockdown.

Filming in their own homes, the virtual confrontation scene was complete with a hilarious selection of slaps and quick costume changes out of frame.

Like many TV hosts, Fallon has been forced to present The Tonight Showfrom his own home during the Covid-19 pandemic and has been virtually joined by a host of celebrity guests throughout the period.

On Monday night (6 April), Adam Sandler appeared alongside Fallon to perform a new comic song about coronavirus safety called “Don’t Touch Grandma”.

Along with Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Ellen DeGeneres have also been recording their shows at home, with DeGeneres coming under fire this week after jokingly comparing her time in self-isolation to being in jail.
