Will Eagles have interest in Antonio Brown after he requests trade from Steelers?

The Philadelphia Eagles have a growing list of needs entering free agency, and that’s not even counting how they’ll deal with retaining their own high priority free agents. With Howie Roseman clearly intent on adding weapons and explosive players, could the Eagles have interest in acquiring the Steelers star wideout, Antonio Brown?

Brown is still under contract in Pittsburgh, but that marriage sounds like it’s over, especially after the All-Pro wide receiver sent out this goodbye to Steelers fans on Twitter, telling fans that it’s time to move on.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Brown has requested a trade from the Steelers, too, who’ve yet to respond to the report.

With all the needs this team has and Carson Wentz’s impending contract extension, are the Eagles prepared to commit $12.6 million to Brown if he does hit the trade market? Brown is without question one of the best receivers in football. After everything Wentz just went through regarding reports of him being selfish, it would be interesting to see if the Eagles would be prepared to deal with the off- and on-field drama Brown could bring when unhappy.

Brown has three years remaining on his current deal, with base salaries of $12.6 million, $11.3 million and $12.5 to be paid. Pittsburgh would have to eat $21 million in dead money to trade Brown, and it seems open to the idea.

With the team expected to move on from Nick Foles at some point, that cap space would be available, but at what cost? Philadelphia could try and acquire Brown, while also moving on from Golden Tate and/or Nelson Agholor.
