Will Dissly could miss rest of season after ‘serious’ Achilles injury

Seattle Seahawk Will Dissly is still undergoing more tests but the tight end could likely be out for the remainder of the season. Dissly left the Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns early with an injury to his left Achilles tendon.

Coach Pete Carroll did not sound optimistic about Dissly’s prognosis during his post-game press conference.

“He did hurt his Achilles – we don’t have the final on it – but it’s a serious one,” Carroll said. “He’s gotta get some tests, MRIs and all that, but it’s a big loss. He’s been playing great football and you saw him. He was running in the open field and it just happened like Achilles do, you know. They just happen.

“It’s really a devastating injury for him this season.”

Dissly’s rookie campaign was cut short last year in Arizona when he suffered a torn patellar tendon on his right knee and landed on the injured reserve. After a complete recovery, he was emerging as one of Russell Wilson’s favorite targets in 2019.

Carroll didn’t specifically confirm Dissly would be out for the rest of the season but the outlook appears grim.

“It’s just unfortunate he’s going to have to miss this deal here if the tests come through the way we think they will,” Carroll concluded.

This story is continuing to develop.
