Chris Eubank Sr’s shock appearance at his son’s April fight with Conor Benn was perhaps the story of the night.
The Eubanks were estranged for four years ahead of the bout, before Eubank Sr reemerged to support his son in what he described as a “very dangerous” fight.
Ahead of April’s meeting with Benn, a renewal of Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn’s decades-old rivalry, Eubank Jr spoke publicly of the pain that came with their lack of communication.
He said: “My own father, a man I idolised for my entire life, and he doesn't speak to me. We haven't spoken for years and he thinks I'm a disgrace.”
Eubank Sr said as much after his son slapped Benn with an egg at a face-off in February: “That is disgraceful. I’m going to be in your corner? I would never have been in your corner; that is a disgrace.”
But the pair made amends on the eve of the clash. Eubank Sr made a surprise appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on fight night, making a dramatic entrance with his son before accompanying him to the hospital as he recovered from acute dehydration after winning by unanimous decision.

He later revealed that he had wanted to “give you that last piece of energy” ahead of a “very dangerous” bout.
Of his father’s support, Eubank Jr said: “It was special, he needed to be here. All of this is because of what he did, and we did it again. I’m happy to have this man with me.
“I’ve upheld the family name, like we said we were going to, so it’s onwards and upwards.”
Will Chris Eubank Sr be at Saturday’s fight?
Yes, Chris Sr is expected to be in his son’s corner at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.
Speaking to Ring Magazine in September, Eubank Jr confirmed his dad would be in his corner, but added that he had not been overly involved in his pre-fight preparation.
“He will be there,” he said. "He will be there when it counts. In terms of my training and camp, he hasn't been a part of that for a long time, so I don't see that changing.
"But, we talk, I think I am filming a TV show with him tomorrow. So things are a lot better than they were."
