Will Chicago have another manager of the year finalist?

Chicago baseball fans hoping 2021 will bring another manager of the year finalist might want to temper those expectations.

Sports book Sportsbetting.ag put 10/1 odds on the White Sox’ Tony La Russa becoming the American League manager of the year. The Cubs’ David Ross is at 10/1 for the NL honor. Craig Counsell of the Brewers and Joe Girardi of the Phillies are also listed at 10/1.

Former White Sox skipper Rick Renteria was a 2020 finalist for AL manager of the year. The award went to Tampa Bay’s Kevin Cash.

The Blue Jays’ Charlie Montoyo and the Braves’ Brian Snitker are the AL and NL favorites this year with both listed at 7/1.

At the other end, the Orioles’ Brandon Hyde, at 7/1 odds, is listed as most likely to be the first managerial firing this season. La Russa is listed at 14/1 and Ross comes in at 22/1.
