Will Beatty re-signs with Giants

The Giants finally made a move on Tuesday to shore up an offensive line that has performed poorly in three preseason games, re-signing veteran Will Beatty, who was cut in February.

According to his agent, Beatty received a one-year contract for a guaranteed $1.1 million, and he can make another $750,000 in incentive money.

Beatty was the Giants' second-round pick in 2009, and he started at left tackle from 2011 through 2014. He tore a pectoral muscle during OTAs before the 2015 season and wound up missing the entire year when he suffered a shoulder injury during rehab that eventually required surgery.

Beatty was waived on Feb. 10. He didn't sign with any other team, and the decision to bring him back was made after the Giants' offense generated just 31 points and 29 first downs and converted only 4 of 36 third-down plays in three preseason games. He worked out for the Giants this morning but did not practice.

Head coach Ben McAdoo made no mention of the move in his post-practice media session, so Beatty's status for the preseason finale Thursday night against New England is uncertain. It seems unlikely that he will line up at his old left tackle spot, which was taken over last season by rookie Ereck Flowers.

The Giants are expected to announce roster cuts later today to reach the 75-man limit.
