Will Bears QB Mitch Trubisky play Sunday? Matt Nagy: ‘I feel good about it’

Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky is expected to practice in full Wednesday, and head coach Matt Nagy said he’s “cautiously optimistic” he will start Sunday against the Saints.

Trubisky dislocated his left shoulder after scrambling on the sixth play of the Vikings game. He traveled to London with the team but was inactive. He practiced Monday, though the team didn’t have to file an injury report until Wednesday.

Nagy said that backup Chase Daniel will take some snaps this week in practice, in case Trubisky can’t go. He sounded as if Trubisky was in line to start, though.

“I feel good about it,” Nagy said, “but we’re preparing with both.”

Trubisky said he “feels close” to 100 percent.

“Hopefully once I show everyone that I’m good to go in practice this week, they’ll let me roll,” he said.

Trubisky landed awkwardly on his left arm scrambling in the first quarter against the Vikings. His shoulder popped out of socket but, he said, soon popped back in.

Trubisky confirmed he’ll wear a harness on his left shoulder whenever he returns.

The Bears promoted third-stringer Tyler Bray from the practice squad, but have since demoted him again. The Bears would likely only promote him again if they’re not convinced on Saturday that Trubisky will play the next day.
