Will any team go ‘all in’ on Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell?

In just a few days, we will all know what the Pittsburgh Steelers’ intentions are with running back Le’Veon Bell. The window to place the transition tag on Bell opens on February 19 and closes on March 5. If you are team Bell, you think teams are going to be beating down Bell’s door to sign him to a massive contract the Steelers cannot match. If you aren’t, you think teams are going to shy away after his actions of the last year.

Former New York Jets’ defensive end Leger Douzable went on NFL Network and thinks his former team should go all-in on Bell in free agency.

Any team who signs Bell knows they are getting two things. First, they are getting one of the most versatile running backs in the NFL. His ability to impact the passing game from the running back position is as good as any RB in the league.

But in addition to this, they are also getting a player who has served two suspensions for violations of the substance abuse policy and has suffered two significant injuries. Even more than this, Bell’s new team is getting a player who is not afraid to sit and forfeit salary if he feels like he’s not being valued.

Just because the Jets or any team give him the contract he’s happy with now doesn’t mean in a year or two they won’t be going through the same thing when he decides his value is even higher. Buyer beware.
