Will Anushka Sharma, Vamika and Akaay join Virat Kohli on cricket tours after criticism of BCCI family policy?

Fans of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have loved watching every moment of the couple's love story playing out on the cricket field. However, questions arose about their future appearances together after Virat slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI's) family policy.

The debate gained traction after Kohli publicly criticised the BCCI’s restrictions on players’ family members joining them during overseas tournaments. His remarks prompted discussions on the mental well-being of cricketers and the role of family support during high-pressure series. Following Kohli's criticism, fans were eager to know whether Anushka, Vamika, and Akaay, will accompany him on upcoming tours.

Despite initial reports hinting at a possible policy revision, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that the current regulations will remain 'unchanged'. Addressing the controversy, he stated that the existing policy remains in effect and has been in place for decades, and emphasised that the policy is designed to ensure team cohesion and discipline during international tours.

“At this stage, the current policy will remain intact, as it is of paramount importance to both the nation and our institution, the BCCI. This policy has not been formulated overnight; it has been in place for decades,” Saikia told Cricbuzz.

Kohli, in a recent statement, expressed disappointment over the lack of understanding regarding the importance of having family support during long tours. The cricketer has often been seen getting onto video calls with his children, while celebrating the team's victory at various matches. The recent Champions Trophy saw him on cloud nine, while celebrating team India's victory with wife Anushka, who was a regular at the matches.
