Will and Grace creators finally discuss Debra Messing and Megan Mullally feud rumours

Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnuck have implied there were “squabbles” between two of the show’s stars, Debra Messing and Megan Mullally.

Rumours of a rift between the actors began earlier this year, when the two unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The pair were also rarely pictured together in Will & Grace-themed social media posts, fans pointed out.

Mutchnick told Entertainment Weeky that he and Kohen have always done their best to keep all focus on the series.

“We always work under this kind of motto that everything’s about the work. It’s just about the work,” he said.

He continued: “And so if we stay true to that, then we just keep you guys out of whatever happened on the set this year because it would have done nothing but get in the way of the stories that we wanted to tell.”

Mutchnick went on to admit that it “was not an easy year” to film, but feels “the permanent legacy of the show is much more important to us than any temporary squabble that would take place on the stage”.

In 2018, many fans blamed Mullaly’s temporary leave of absence from the final season of Will & Grace on her supposed conflicts with Messing.

But Eric McCormack, who plays Will in the sitcom, dismissed these rumours at the time, telling Us Weekly“People worried... entirely too much about Instagram-gate,” before adding: “The four of us get along like a house on fire, we always have.”
