Will Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Atrangi Re’ release on a digital platform? Here’s what the actor has to say

Akshay Kumar recently took the internet by storm quite literally after he made an official announcement of the release dates of his upcoming projects. On Saturday, the Maharashtra government announced that the theatres in the state will reopen from 22nd October.

Akshay was quick to update fans about the release date of his much-awaited film ‘Sooryavanshi’ alongside Katrina Kaif. The actor has booked this year as well as the next year dates with his films like ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘RakshaBandhan’ and ‘Ram Setu’. But Akki didn’t update anything about ‘Atrangi Re’ which also stars Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush in key roles. They have already completed the shoot.

Now, in an interaction with an entertainment portal, Akshay opened up about the film and its release plan. He said that the team is considering a digital release for ‘Atrangi Re’ currently. He further clarified that they are currently discussing whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. Speaking about the film, Akshay said that ‘Atrangi Re’ has a ‘fantastic’ and ‘never-heard-before’ storyline.

While concluding, Akshay shared that he stands by a theatrical release as much as he would for an OTT release.

Meanwhile, Akshay is currently busy shooting for ‘Cinderella’ in London. Post the release of ‘Bell Bottom’, the actor started shooting for the project. But he had to come back to Mumbai as his mother Aruna Bhatia was admitted to a hospital. Soon after he arrived, his mother passed away. After doing the rituals, the actor and his family jetted off to London.
