Wilkos selling pregnancy tests for £1 and mums say its more accurate than top brands

Wilkos are selling pregnancy tests for £1 and mums say they're more accurate than expensive ones.

The bargain homeware store is selling pregnancy test sticks, strips and ovulation strips for those who are trying to get pregnant - and mums say they are consistently spot on.

The bargain kits were spotted by an eagle-eyed mum who was so stunned at the low price, she decided to share with others on Facebook.

Sharing a picture of the tests and strips, she said: "Wow....not that I'll need them ever again but I did spend a fortune on them at one time! So I thought I'd share!"

The post attracted hundreds of comments from fellow mums who vouched for the tests saying they were as reliable as the leading brands.

One woman said: "I've always bought £1 test and on all 5 occasions i got a positive result they where correct."

Leading brand pregnancy tests can cost up to £10 for a pack of three or £15 for a pack of five.

But other social media users said more bargain stores sold pregnancy tests at similar knock-down prices.

One woman said: "I got one from Poundworld back in September 2015, my little girl is 5 next month! Nowt wrong with cheap tests. The little strip ones are what they use in hospitals."

Another agreed: "89p in home bargains for a 2pack lol used them for a few of my babies and been right each time."

"I used these, and Poundland ones ,they showed up I was pregnant, 2 weeks before clear blue came up positive. I now have a 7 month old," added a third.

While a fourth woman said she preferred the cheaper tests, adding: "The strip test pick up the lowest hcg level its what hospitals use never buy a dear one as they dont pick up low hcg levels i prefer these to expensive ones."

Another added: "Always found these wee cheap ones more accurate than the more expensive ones."

"Used to be £15 for one when I needed to buy them," added another.

But not everyone thought chap pregnancy tests were a good idea.

One woman sniped: "It’s good that these are within girls’ pocket money budget."
