The donations will include pens, paper, notebooks, bags, calculators and a variety of art equipment.

These donated products will go to a school set up by the Home Office for the children of Afghan families that are residing in temporary accommodation.

Wilko Bristol believes this donation will allow the scheme to build ‘school starter packs’ for the children in order to enhance their creativity and learning.

In addition, Wilko’s Bedminister store will be donating an array of home and garden products.

This includes bedding, kitchen equipment and planters from its Clever Pots range to six families that are living under the UK Resettlement Scheme.

The donations are targeted towards being able to also provide comfort for many of the families’ resettlements.

The brand hopes that its home and gardening products will ultimately assist in making ‘a house feel more like a home’.

Jerome Saint-Marc, Wilko CEO, said: “At Wilko, we believe strongly in giving back to our local communities. Every Wilko store across the UK takes pleasure in serving its customers and ensuring their time spent in store is a happy one.

“In addition to providing the best customer service that we can offer, we’re also excited that we are able to help the hardworking, deserving individuals and communities throughout the country too, and make a real, substantial impact to those who give so much to others.”

Bristol City Council said: “Any support for such an important cause is always welcomed, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the support from Wilko, especially in raising awareness for children who desperately need our help.

“It’s always amazing to see the incredible work that can be done when businesses and communities pull together to provide support for others at such a difficult time.”
