A host of Crystal Palace stars paid tribute to manager Roy Hodgson after the club announced that the boss would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Hodgson's exit at the end of the year has been an open secret for some time, with the manager admitting that the news did not come as a huge shock to the squad following months of speculation about his future.
Hodgson is broadly thought of well throughout the football world, and it would seem that he is also a popular character among the playing squad, with a number taking to social media to send their well-wishes after the news had broken.
Patrick van Aanholt stated on Twitter: "Gaffer, it's hard to say how much respect and appreciation I have for you.
"You've helped me develop not only as a player but as a man. All I can say is you will be missed.
"Best of luck to you and your family you truly have left your mark on football. South London and proud."
Tyrick Mitchell said: "You changed my life and for that I’ll be forever grateful, great man and manager. Best of luck for everything you do in the future."
Wilfried Zaha stated on Twitter: "It's been an eventful four years and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you Roy for everything that you have done.
"Your wisdom has helped me understand a lot about who I am as a man and a footballer.
"Thanks for everything and all the best for the future, gaffer."
Christian Benteke added: "Thanks for everything you did, Boss! It's been a real pleasure working with you. I wish you all the best for the future."
Among those speaking elsewhere were Cheikhou Kouyate, who has been filling in at centre-back this season with the club struggling at the back due to injuries.
"It's very, very sad," Kouyate told talkSPORT. "He's been a good manager and like a father to me.
"It's very sad news for all the players here. Everyday he opened his door for me and I will never forget that"
Hodgson himself stated that the thing he would miss most after leaving Crystal Palace would be working with his squad day in and day out at the training ground.
"I think the other thing that will stick in my memory is the pleasure I've had every day coming to the training ground and working with this group of players," he stated.
"I've been well supported, as I say in the statement, by the club's owners, and every other member of staff that I've been working with. But it's the pleasure to be found working with these players every day, of course that's the thing that one will miss."
