Wilfried Zaha transfer latest: '£100m offer', Hodgson's admission, what Arsenal fans are saying

The summer transfer window deadline may have passed in England, but that hasn't stopped the speculation continuing over the future of Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

The Ivory Coast international was heavily linked with Arsenal and Everton, with both clubs having bids turned down by the Eagles as Palace stood firm on his reported £80million price tag, with the Gunners and the Toffees both moving on to other transfer targets as Nicolas Pepe moved to north London and Alex Iwobi headed to Merseyside.

That was despite Zaha submitting a transfer request on the eve of transfer deadline day, with Palace making it clear that he would not be moving.

Zaha has since returned to action for Palace and played a role in their surprise 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon (Saturday).

But despite this, the talk over his future has continued, with clubs across Europe still able to buy players up to the deadline of September 2, as it is in many countries.

There were reports of interest from Napoli earlier on in the summer, but the Serie A side have since signed Mexican winger Hirving Lozano from PSV Eindhoven.

However, according to the Daily Mirror , Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a £100m move for the Ivory Coast star as they attempt to soften the blow of losing Neymar to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, with the Brazilian heavily linked with an exit from the Parc des Princes.

And the report states that the reigning Ligue 1 champions are set to send a delegation to London this week in a bid to tie up a deal.

It is understood that the French club would be seeking to recoup most of the money they paid for Neymar, who signed for PSG in a world record deal worth a round €222m in 2017, and if that asking price is met, they would have the funds to meet Palace's valuation of Zaha.

As such, there remains the possibility that the 26-year-old could yet be on his way to the French capital before the European transfer window shuts early next month.

And Palace boss Roy Hodgson has not ruled out the possibility of losing Zaha to a European club.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: "I don't suppose you can ever rule out the possibility that it might happen because the transfer window in Europe is still open until the end of the month - but it is not something which I am going to worry about because it is something that I really cannot affect," he said.

However, Hodgson has also said that he hoped that Zaha would stay with Palace and "get his head down" to focus on helping the Eagles.

"If you are asking me 'would I welcome it? The answer is no," said the Palace boss.

"I would rather that he now gets his head down and commits himself to the season that we have got in front of us and commits himself to helping me, the coaching staff and the players into having another season that we can regard as a good one.

"That is what I would like."

But the links with Arsenal have also continued, with some Gunners fans recently calling for the north London club to return with a fresh bid for Zaha in January after an outrageous piece of skill in a Crystal Palace training session.

Meanwhile, former Palace goalkeeper Nigel Martyn recently claimed that Zaha needs an Arsenal transfer to go ahead, following a summer of speculation.

And it is clear that some Arsenal fans still want to see Zaha in a Gunners shirt, as can be seen from what these supporters are saying on social networking website Twitter.
