Wilfried Zaha top of 'concerning' Crystal Palace injury list ahead of Leeds United trip

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says his side are 'wounded' ahead of their Monday night trip to face Leeds United at Elland Road.

The Eagles claimed a 2-1 win over Newcastle on Tuesday evening, but it came at a cost, as Hodgson saw his leading goalscorer Wilfried Zaha limp off before the hour mark.

Palace are set to learn more about the severity of the forward's apparent hamstring problem on Thursday, but Zaha's issue is the latest blow to a squad that is currently feeling the strain in the run-up to their clash against Leeds.

"We're a little bit wounded at the moment," Hodgson told the BBC following the win at St James' Park.

"From having a situation where we've had a lot of players available, suddenly we're looking around wondering where all those players are. It's going to be a bit of a problem for us in the next two weeks trying to get some of them fit again because I can't expect these guys to keep going out game after game when they come so thick and fast."

The former England boss admitted that Zaha's injury was particularly concerning.

"Obviously, these injuries need to be assessed. Wilf normally is not a guy that gets injured so it's concerning that he comes off. I can only hope it's not going to be a long one. Normally we're very unlucky in that respect. A player comes off, you don't think it's too bad, next thing you know he has a scan and they tell me he's going to be out for two or three months."

Hodgson also discussed his side's other injuries in his post-match press conference.

"It does give us problems because at the moment we're suffering a spate of injuries. We lost McArthur before the game against Wolves, in the game we lost McCarthy who had taken his place, we lost Joel Ward, we've lost Jeff Schlupp, we've lost James Tomkins.

"If we lose Wilf as well, that's six very, very important players out of our team, and to be frank, it's not easy for any team to lose six of their regular players."

Palace currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, two places behind Leeds on goal difference.
