Wilfried Zaha would be an ideal signing for Everton or Tottenham Hotspur according to the scout who discovered him for Crystal Palace.
Everton had a bid rejected for the 27-year-old last summer and with speculation surrounding his future once again - and manager Roy Hodgson admitting he would 'relish' a move away - Webb believes the moment has come for a transfer.
Zaha rejoined Palace permanently from Manchester United in 2015 after departing two seasons earlier but has consistently been linked with a switch for consecutive summer windows.
“I think this would be the best time for him to go,” David Webb, who scouted Zaha aged 13, told the National.
“He has been a fantastic servant to Palace and has been their talisman but if he wants to have a chance to play European football, or challenge for some sort of trophy, potentially he will need to move now."
When asked who would benefit most from the arrival of Zaha, Webb admitted Everton have to be considered.
"Tottenham and Everton would be the two in England," he said. "He could add to Tottenham. Wilf can play as one of the wide players as he does at Palace or out of position as a No 9.
"They could use that as an alternative attacking threat because certainly they missed that when Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were out. Everton definitely need to strengthen in those areas.”
Everton have largely signed young talent since the arrival of Marcel Brands in 2018 and Webb admitted his price-tag - coupled with a British 'premium' - could derail potential interest.
"Wilf is now 27," he said. "Clubs would have to buy him knowing that if they pay a premium and if they keep him for three years, at 30, he is probably not going to have that same premium. You are looking at clubs that need a signing to come in and impact now.”
“He’s [Crystal Palace's] main man. They sold [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] last year to Manchester United for £50m but Wilf’s the one who can change a game and with most value. And there is always that premium on British-based players.”
