Wilfried Zaha promises Crystal Palace: ‘I’ll do my best for the club’

Wilfried Zaha insists he will is focused on working hard for Crystal Palace despite the disappointment at not leaving the club this summer.

The 26-year-old, who penned a six year deal at Selhurst Park last year, began the summer transfer window having laid bare his desires to pursue Champions League football and was at that time a target for Arsenal.

Sufficient bids from north London, nor latterly Everton, ever emerged, with Palace chairman Steve Parish wanting close to £100million for his talisman and, despite a late transfer request, Zaha stayed put. The disappointment is clear, but the forward is determined to move on.

"I feel like what happened in the summer happened," Zaha said. "Obviously there were things I was told that didn't happen and I wasn't happy about it but I feel like all I can do is just move forward now. I am a Palace player and I am still at Palace so I will obviously work for the team and do my best for the club.

I will always love Crystal Palace and they will always be my club no matter what happens."

Aside from a spell at Manchester United, which included a loan to Cardiff City, Zaha has been with Crystal Palace since he was a child and says the south London club will always hold a place in his heart.

"When I went to Man Utd I used to literally follow Palace results, stuff that was happening at Palace wherever I went," said Zaha, speaking on the HLTCO podcast. "It is not just going to end tomorrow if I went anywhere else, I have been there since I was eight. It is a special club, I have been elsewhere so I can say it is different, special and it is nice to be part of it."
