Wilfried Zaha names his four inspirations during failed Manchester United spell

Former Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha has said that he doesn’t have any regrets over his failed spell at Old Trafford as a young player.

The Ivory Coast international came up through the ranks at Crystal Palace before making the move to United as a 19-year-old in 2013.

He ended up making just four first team appearances for United, failing to register a goal or assist in a United shirt.

He had loan spells back at Crystal Palace and at Cardiff City before returning to Selhurst Park on a permanent deal in 2015.

However, despite the fact that he failed to make an impact at Old Trafford, Zaha says that he has no regrets about making the move and that he learnt a lot from legendary figures at the club.

“There’s never regrets," he told United legend Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE programme.

“I met so many amazing players that I watched from young, you were there, Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] was there, Rooney was there, Van Persie was there, so many players that I’ve managed to learn from. So there’s never regrets.

“I’m sitting in the same changing room as the people I’ve watched win titles after titles after titles and that’s what I want in my career, so it was like ‘I’m finally here with these lot.’”

Zaha has since got back on track back with Crystal Palace, leading to speculation that another big move could be on the cards for the now 27-year-old.

Arsenal and Everton are the teams that have been the most heavily linked with the player who has scored three goals and provided five assists so far this season.
