Wilfried Zaha: Crystal Palace are not just a counter-attacking team under Patrick Vieira

Wilfried Zaha believes Crystal Palace are shrugging off their counter-attacking tag under new boss Patrick Vieira.

The Eagles intially made a slow start to the campaign following the Frenchman’s arrival to replace Roy Hodgson, but their season sparked into life last week with a 3-0 win over Tottenham.

Vieira is keen for his side to play with a more attacking style and Zaha believes that is starting to take shape.

The winger was on the scoresheet last week as Palace beat Spurs and now they are hoping to cause another upset as they head to Liverpool on Saturday.

“It just shows we’re not just a counter-attacking team, we can actually play out the back and play through teams,” said Zaha, when discussing the win over Spurs. “Obviously we showed we’re definitely improving.

“I feel like it’s not just counter-attacks and hoofing the ball around. When it’s properly planned, the way we’re playing, the goals are going to come eventually.”
