SOME of Australia's most acclaimed female singer-songwriters are heading to the Hunter Valley on April 2 for the inaugural Wildflower music festival.
The all-female line-up at Roche Estate aims to celebrate women in the Australian music industry.
Wildflower will feature ARIA Award-winners Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Sarah Blasko, Kate Miller-Heidke, Vicki Thorn of The Waifs and Deborah Conway, plus emerging Indigenous artist Alice Skye.
"All the women involved are total inspirations and some were actually really big influences on me in the early days of my career," Higgins said. "There's something about being on the road with so many powerful creative women, it's so rare it kind of creates magic when it happens."
For Blasko, Wildflower is long overdue.
"I'm really excited about it and I've met most of the people on the line-up at shows before," Blasko said. "To have us all together, it shouldn't be an unusual thing I guess, but I suppose it is having an all-female line-up."
Tickets are on sale 9am next Friday.
