- Shifting winds and arid conditions have complicated firefighting efforts against the blaze, which has burned 42,000 hectares, an area four times the size of Paris.
- French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez described the situation as “very unfavourable”, with the fire becoming “extremely virulent” and generating its own winds.
- Neighbouring Spain has also seen significant evacuations, with 76,000 people displaced and one fatality recorded in the Valencia region due to ongoing wildfires.
