A WILDFIRE is blazing in Perth amid a heatwave which has seen an "extreme danger" warning put in place.
Emergency crews were alerted to the open blaze in the Craigend area at around 3.45pm on Friday.
The wildfire is visible from the M90.
Police officers have closed the road between Aberdalgie and Craigend.
Three fire engines have been sent to tackle the blaze, while a specialist wildfire unit has also been deployed.
It comes as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) issued a wildfire warning across Scotland from Friday until Monday, with temperatures set to reach as high as 30C.
An extreme danger warning covers central and eastern areas on Friday and extends to the whole country, barring low-lying areas with green grass, from Saturday.
A SFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters are currently in attendance at a fire in the open in the Craigend area of Perth.
“This is visible from the M90.
“Operations Control has mobilised three appliances and a specialist wildfire unit to the scene to make the area safe.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The unclassified road between Aberdalgie and Craigend, near Perth, is closed due to a fire reported to police around 3.45pm on Friday, July 11.
“Emergency services are in attendance, and the public is advised to avoid the area.”
