Wildcats forced to extend NBL road trip

The Perth Wildcats will have their road trip extended after the release of the latest NBL schedule. (AAP)

NBL title contenders Perth will spend all of January on the road as the league continues to work its rolling fixture around interstate border restrictions.

The Wildcats are about to embark on a lengthy road trip that has been extended with the release of the schedule for rounds seven to nine.

They will play six straight games interstate from December 28 to January 30.

Reigning champions Melbourne United will play three consecutive away games in rounds seven to nine while the Australian summer of tennis takes over John Cain Arena.

Co-tenants South East Melbourne Phoenix will also hit the road in January, including a 'home' game against the Adelaide 36ers at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in round eight.

Having played all five games so far this season away, with another six road games to come in succession, the winless New Zealand Breakers have been scheduled to play their first home game in round nine.

The venue for the January 30 clash with Tasmania is still to be confirmed.
