Zach Parise, who has missed the start of the Wild season because of an injury related to back problems, is facing surgery to repair a herniated disk, according to multiple reports.
Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said Monday he expected an update on Parise's condition Tuesday. The veteran winger has practiced sporadically and was not on the ice Monday.
The 33-year-old suffered the back injury in January, 2016, and ended up missing the playoffs that season. He returned to the Wild lineup last year and played through the herniated disk.
Two published reports on Monday said Parise's surgery would come as early as Tuesday. An expected recovery time would be eight to 10 weeks.
The Wild is also missing forwards Charlie Coyle (broken leg), Nino Niederreiter (sprained ankle) and Mikael Granlund (groin). On Monday, it recalled forwards Luke Kunin and Justin Kloos from Iowa of the AHL for Tuesday night's game against Vancouver at the Xcel Energy Center.
Kloos, a former Gophers captain, would be making his NHL debut.
