'Wild West' mass brawl in bar between 21 men sees glasses and stools hurled

Twenty one men are to be sentenced over a mass 'Wild West saloon style' bar brawl in West Yorkshire.

CCTV footage released by Leeds Crown Court captures the moment the altercation erupts at the Arc Bar in Headingley.

Two rival groups were caught up in violent scenes which saw bar stools and glasses thrown across the bar.

They were exchanging blows before a man stamped on another man on the floor.

The bar manager was also assaulted and struck with a bar stool during the violence.

The court heard only one of the defendants suffered injuries in the melee on February 17, 2018.

Marcus Lamb, who suffered broken ribs, was taken to hospital where he was also treated with eight stitches in his head.

Troubled flared when Thomas Walker and Matthew Wild from one faction confronted Harry Walker from the other group, Leeds Crown Court heard.

All the defendants, who are aged between 20 and 27, have pleaded guilty to affray.

Howard Shaw, prosecuting, told the court: "The scenes captured on the CCTV are more reminiscent of a saloon in Dodge City in the Wild West rather than a pub in Headingley."

The prosecutor said police arrested the defendants in the weeks after the incident when the footage was realised during a media appeal to trace suspects.

The sentencing is expected to take two days, finishing tomorrow.

The men being sentenced are:
