Wild Thang throws support behind NHS heroes with new t-shirt range

A Liverpool merchandise company has thrown its support behind NHS staff with its new t-shirt range - and will donate 50% of the purchase price to staff on the front line of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brand expert Wild Thang has launched its limited edition t-shirts with slogans supporting our NHS heroes and the Bootle firm says for every one bought, it will either donate half of the proceeds or a t-shirt to health workers.

Andrew Dwerryhouse, Wild Thang's managing director, said: “We wanted to make a difference so the initial idea for the NHS themed t-shirts came about after we created screen-printed social distancing t-shirts as our last job before lockdown for our amazing team before some started working remotely at home.

"The feedback from our friends and family was awesome and they loved the design, but still we wanted to do more."

He said Wild Thang, which has in the past produced work for high-profile brands such as Budweiser, Sony, Mercedes Benz and Unilever, has followed all the government guidelines to promote best practice during Covid-19, but that "it’s been one of the toughest times in our 24 year history".

He added: "Recently we have delivered a large consignment of clothing - 28 large bags of t-shirts, hoodies and tracksuit bottoms - to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, this was after hearing they were in desperate need of clothing for frontline staff working tirelessly for their patients.

"This was an attempt to reduce infection when they to travel to and from work in their own clothes before changing into their uniforms and scrubs once inside the building.

"After this we donated branded tote bags to the staff at Liverpool Women’s Hospital to carry their necessities to work."

He said feedback on social media had also been "amazing" so far, adding: "Lots of people thought it was an awesome idea and loved the designs.

"So the next step was to shortlist the most popular designs and create a web-shop so they are available to be purchased.

"Like many businesses in the UK it’s a worrying time, our sales have understandably slowed down considerably since lockdown so initiatives like this even in a small way will also help Wild Thang to reintroduce staff when the UK starts to return to normality, we cannot wait to be back up to full strength and doing what we do best, which as a company is to try and make a difference to those around us."
