Bobby Cannatello Jr. experienced the wild side of buck rut on Nov. 19.
Cannatello, an assistant state’s attorney for Cook County, was hunting in Starke County, Indiana when he took a good 11-point buck.
``Funny thing about this deer, minutes after shooting him a second large buck came from the opposite direction of this deer and stared at him on the ground,’’ Cannatello emailed. ``The second large buck attempted to spar my buck while my buck laid there dead on the ground. I had to shout multiple times to prevent him from ruining my deer.’’
BOTW, the celebration of hunting bucks and their stories (the stories matter) around Chicago outdoors, runs Wednesdays in the Sun-Times, as warranted.
