Wild night of crime hits quiet Dublin road as attempted thief 'grabs man asleep on front couch' while two cars stolen from garden

Residents in a quiet Dublin suburb have been issued a scary warning after an attempted thief allegedly grabbed a man asleep on his couch through his front window and another home had two cars taken from the front garden.

The shocking scenes took place overnight on Tuesday on Walkinstown Parade in Dublin 12.

Taking to a local Facebook group, the man's wife urged locals to "be careful" as "they are all around".

She also gave a description of what the man was wearing just to be sure if anyone spots him around.

The post read: "Someone tried to get into my bottom window last night [on] Walkinstown Parade.

"My husband was on the couch, couldn’t sleep and had the window open.

"He grabbed his hand as he tried to get in, [there] was a struggle and he got away.

"Red baseball cap and grey tracksuit. Didn’t see the face the blind was in the way.

"Be careful they are all around."

And in a separate incident, thieves stole a number of items and two cars from another residence on the same street on the same night.

Gardai told Dublin Live investigations are ongoing into the night of chaos.

"Gardai are investigating a burglary incident which occurred at a house on Walkinstown Drive in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 21 July 2021.," they said.

"A number of items were stolen from the house and two cars were also taken from the premises. Investigation is ongoing."
