The Moo Pa (Wild Boars) Football Academy has thanked all local and foreign rescuers for rescuing its coach and team members and hopes they can return to the field soon.

"We all would like to thank all heroes for helping rescue the 12 boys and their coach. We'll never forget anyone," the academy posted a Facebook message on Wednesday.

It posted another message on Thursday encouraging the boys and their coach to be strong so they could return to the field soon.

"They should rest to regain strength so they can practise football together again like they used to," it said. "They've gone through an ordeal and we hope they'll be successful in life."

"Leave the past behind. We'll move forward with hope," it added.

The academy was set up in 2006 to train football for boys in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai, with Nopparat Kanthawong and Ekkapol Chanthawong as their coaches, according to the smmsport.com sports website.

They have 70 members split into three teams -- U13, U15 and U19. The members also are regular cyclists and runners. (continues below)

The Moo Paa Football academy sends messages to their heroes and friends at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital.

Twelve boys and Mr Ekkapol entered Tham Luang cave on June 23 and were trapped inside by high floodwater. The international operation finally took them from the cave in Mae Sai, with the first group out on Sunday and the last on Tuesday.

Their physical and mental strength was praised by rescuers to help them survive without food in the cave.

The teen footballers and their coach are under medical treatment at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in Muang district. They will not be discharged until doctors are confident of a full recovery.

The first video of the boys rescued from the flooded Tham Luang cave was released on Wednesday. (Reuters video)
