Wigan Warriors sweat over the fitness of Dom Manfredi amid fears of new injury setback

Wigan Warriors head coach Adrian Lam is waiting to discover the seriousness of winger Dom Manfredi’s knee problem.

Manfredi has endured numerous injury setbacks in recent seasons and missed Friday’s 18-8 home defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers.

The winger had only recently returned to the Wigan side from a hand injury suffered in pre-season, while he missed the Grand Final charge with a minor knee problem.

Lam revealed after Friday’s match he had fluid on his knee but was waiting for Manfredi to see a specialist before speculating on how long he may be absent.

Lam said: “He was a late withdrawal - he's got some fluid and a small particle floating in his knee.

“He's seeing a specialist tonight and will probably know by Monday what the outcome of that is.

“We will know whether or not it's a week to week thing or if he has to get a clean-out again.”

Lam has yet to discover whether Bevan French will be ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Australian full-back has had surgery on his knee and it is feared he will not play again this year.

Lam said: “Hopefully I will know on Monday.”
