Wigan Warriors recall youngsters to make up 18-man squad for Wakefield Trinity clash

Wigan Warriors have recalled two youngsters for their Super League clash with Wakefield Trinity after naming just an 18-man squad.

Brad O’Neill and James McDonnell have been recalled from their loan spells in the Championship to be included in the squad given the number of injuries and international call-ups.

O'Neill has been at Widnes, where he has played nine games, and could make his Wigan debut.

Meanwhile, McDonnell returns from York where he has spent part of the season.

Liam Farrell, John Bateman and Jackson Hastings are all ruled out due to their involvement in the England v All Stars contest. Brad Singleton will serve the first of a two-match ban after being charged for headbutting.

Morgan Smithies could return after overcoming an ankle injury that has persisted over a number of weeks. Dom Manfredi remains in the squad despite uncertainty over his knee.

Wakefield have named Joe Westerman in the squad, despite his inclusion in England's 19-man squad. Kelepi Tanginoa is not named in the 20-man squad, suggesting he could be included in the All Stars squad.

Warriors: Manfredi, Gildart, Marshall, Leuluai, Powell, Bullock, Isa, Partington, Smithies, Byrne, Smith, Havard, Bibby, Shorrocks, Pearce-Paul, McDonnell, Hanley, O'Neill.

Trinity: Johnstone, Kay, Miller, Lino, Fifita, Wood, Arona, Ashurst, Westerman, Battye, Batchelor, Senior, Crowther, Arundel, Walker, Aydin, Kershaw, Hampshire.
