Wigan Warriors plot second raid of Leigh Centurions with forward on their radar

Wigan Warriors look set to raid Leigh Centurions again as they close in on the signing of prop Nathan Mason.

Rugby League Live can reveal that the Warriors have targeted Mason as a direct replacement for Joe Bullock, who is leaving the club at the end of the season to join Warrington Wolves.

Mason, who recently suffered a gruesome finger injury against the Warriors while playing for the Centurions, has impressed for the struggling Leythers throughout the season.

The 27-year-old came through the ranks at Huddersfield and spent several years with the Giants before making the move to London Broncos in 2019. He played regularly for Danny Ward's side during their single season in Super League as they were narrowly defeated.

He subsequently joined Leigh in 2020 and has impressed upon his return to Super League this term.

Mason now appears set to join Iain Thornley in making the move from LSV to DW after the centre signed a long-term deal to return to his hometown club.

Rugby League Live revealed last week that Thornley would be returning to the Warriors next year.

Wigan are still thought to be in pursuit of a high-name, front line prop to bolster their pack, with a raid of the NRL appearing likely.

George Williams is also high on their priority list, with the former halfback looking to secure a return to Super League and in talks with the Warriors, though they also face competition from Warrington Wolves.

While significant recruitment is still yet to come, the Warriors have started putting other pieces of the puzzle in place in time for 2022.
