Wigan Warriors player ratings as too many have off days in Hull FC defeat

Wigan Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down to Hull FC, ending their hopes of winning the Challenge Cup.

Here are our player ratings from the game.

Zak Hardaker - 4

Let's have it right. Hardaker has been immense this year. Quite possibly the best player in Super League.

But he just had one of those days. He kicked out on the full twice, dropped an easy kick, missed a fairly simple conversion.

It was just a bad day at the office. He'll come back better.

Bevan French - 5

It's a game all about territory when you play this Hull FC team.

The job of a winger is to be strong in yardage and unfortunately, despite his undoubted brilliance, he's just not that player.

Failing to have the impact he usually out wide.

Liam Farrell - 7

Solid performance again. Not faultless but largely reliable and dangerous for his team.

Willie Isa - 6

Defended well, ran well, worked his socks off. Key error at the end.

Jake Bibby - 7

Took his try well and was the backs three-quarter carrying the ball back up field.

Jackson Hastings - 7

Controlled the game with Harry Smith impeccably in the first half. The territory battle meant he didn't get the chance to be the matchwinner again in this game.

Harry Smith - 7

Like Hastings, kicked in the conditions outstandingly well first-half, but too many team errors meant he couldn't stamp his authority on the second-half.

Brad Singleton - 7

Really tried to lead from the front against Wigan's massive pack.

Had a quiet start to the season but is getting better.

Sam Powell - 6

Quiet by his own standards. Steady away but nothing spectacular this game.

Liam Byrne - 4

Didn't have the day he was wanting as he got his first start.

Tried hard but just too many crucial errors. Shouldn't detract from a good start to the season.

John Bateman - 7

Despite defeat, this was potentially his best performance.

He was also dangerous with the ball in hard, swatting men off and trying to make something happen.

Morgan Smithies - 6

Has been bang in form but dropped a bit today.

A silly penalty for a late hit on Josh Reynolds gifted Hull two easy points.

Oliver Partington - 6

Won a few penalties for his team, showed plenty of heart. Did his bit in a pack that struggled generally.

Ethan Havard - 7

Did very well coming off the bench. A performance more like those before his injury last year.

Joe Bullock - 6

Didn't do anything of particular note.

Joe Shorrocks - 6

Tried to turn things around but struggled with so little ball given the errors.

Dom Manfredi - 7

Dropped his first ball but was very good afterwards.
