Wigan Warriors player ratings as Joe Shorrocks stands out in deflating derby defeat

Wigan Warriors were completely outplayed as they suffered a humiliating 26-2 defeat at home to rivals St Helens.

Here are the player ratings.

Zak Hardaker - 6 : Safe at the back but never got enough space on the ball to have an impact in attack.

Liam Marshall - 5 : Suffered an early head knock. Recovered and was lively but was well marshalled, no pun intended, my Naiqama and Welsby.

Oliver Gildart - 6 : Perhaps his best performance on the season in a losing effort. Carried the ball well down the left edge, particularly in his own half, making valuable metres. Faded in the second half.

Willie Isa - 4 : Well and truly lost the plot in the second half. His attempts to rile his team up only saw him get himself in the sin-bin. Likely to get a suspension, potentially for several incidents, as he completely lost the plot.

Jake Bibby - 5 : A quiet evening for the winger who wasn't particularly noticeable.

Jackson Hastings - 5 : Was put under immense pressure throughout but never looked flustered. That said, Saints shut him down very well all evening. Gave away three penalties in the second half.

Harry Smith - 4 : Not noticeable really. The game seemed to pass him by.

Ethan Havard - 5 : Hit hard by Matty Lees on the opening two minutes and never really got a foothold in the game after that.

Joe Shorrocks - 7 : Playing out of position he put in a huge first shift, at one point making every tackle in a set in his own 20. Inevitably, not the crispest distribution you've ever seen but didn't let anyone down.

Ollie Partington - 5 : Works so hard for his team and leads from the front. But had his pocked pinched by Lewis Dodd for Saints second try and was part of a Wigan pack that simply struggled to keep up with the Saints counterparts.

Liam Farrell - 5 : A poor performance by his own outrageously consistent levels. That said, he still wasn't poor by any means.

Kai Pearce-Paul - 6 : A few lively runs here and there but, like most of his teammates, he was shut down well.

Morgan Smithies - 6 : Telling that, when he went off, defensively, Wigan just seemed to get punched through a little easier, particularly before the break.

Amir Bourouh - 5 : Never got the quick rucks he needs to show his quality.

Liam Byrne - 5 : Anonymous on the whole.

Joe Bullock - 5 : Came on to try and add some punch but Saints had few issues with him

John Bateman - 4 : Missed the tackle on Regan Grace that saw him race 50 metres downfield and eventually score. He was sin-binned, twice, and have the penalty away that saw Lewis Dodd kick the second-half penalty goal.
