Wigan man taken to hospital after knifeman attacks him outside McDonald's

A young man from Wigan has been taken to hospital after an assault outside a McDonald's.

The 21-year-old was with a group of friends outside the restaurant in Folly Lane, Warrington, at around 3.20am on Saturday morning when they were approached by an unknown man.

Police say the newcomer was carrying a "large knife" and that he attacked the Wigan man .

The victim was taken to Whiston hospital but his condition is described as stable.

A 21-year-old male from Warrington was arrested in connection with the incident.

“While we have arrested a suspect in connection with this incident we are continuing to appeal for information from the public," Detective Inspector Nick Henderson explained.

“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack, or anyone with any information which may assist with our investigation.

“The same goes for anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the incidents and thinks they may have dashcam footage which may be relevant to the investigation.”

Anyone with information or footage that may aid the investigation is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML654821.
