Wigan Athletic striker Joe Garner is nearing an exit from the League One club and is poised to move to Indian side East Bengal after entering talks with the club, according to reports.
The 32-year-old has been with the Latics since 2018 and is the club's top scorer this season with seven goals across all competitions.
But he was left out of the squad for yesterday evening's goalless draw against Bristol Rovers at the DW Stadium.
The Daily Mail reports that Garner is in talks with East Bengal over a move, with the club managed by former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler.
Garner has reportedly asked to be released early from his contract, which expired at the end of this campaign.
Since joining Wigan in 2018, Garner has scored 17 goals in 75 appearances for the Latics.
He began his career at Blackburn Rovers and had a loan spell at Carlisle United before moving to Brunton Park on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017.
Fewer than 12 months later, he was sold to Nottingham Forest for more than £1m and went on to score 10 goals in 55 games during his time at the City Ground.
He had loan spells away from Forest at both Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United before moving to Preston North End in January 2013 on a permanent basis.
During his time at Deepdale, Garner netted 57 goals in more than 150 matches.
His time with North End came to end in 2016 when he moved to Scottish giants Rangers for an estimated £1.8m.
He left Ibrox after one season following 10 goals in 34 gamed and moved to Ipswich Town.
He managed to reach double figures in a single season at Portman Road before moving to Latics in 2018.
Wigan currently sit bottom of the League One table with eight points.
