A senior Army medic who served on frontlines including Afghanistan and Iraq in a 20-year career has died in a suspected suicide.
Staff Sergeant Jamie Ferguson, 36, of the Royal Army Medical Corps, is thought to have taken his life in Fife.
His widow, Sammi Clark Ferguson, said on a
military social media site: “My husband took his own life... I will wait for him to come home for the rest of my life.
“He leaves a wife, 13-year-old son and two step daughters – he was loved beyond measure.”
Jamie’s unit, the 205 Field Hospital, called him a “legend” who would be “sorely missed”.
Police said the “death of a 36-year-old man” was not thought to be suspicious.
