Akie Abe, wife of Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo, visited on Sunday Saudi Arabia's Disabled Children’s Association (DCA) in Riyadh.

Abe praised the Saudi government for the attention it gives to children with disabilities, which was reflected in the comprehensive care provided by DCA for their health and educational rehabilitation.

She and the accompanying delegation toured DCA’s specialized departments and units alongside DCA’s executive director, Dr. Ahmad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Tamimi, where they inspected the services of the educational and medical departments and equipment.

She also tried the wheelchair program that imitates the daily suffering of disabled people.

Abe noted that what the Saudi association has achieved competes to what is provided in several countries.

“What DCA achieved is comparable to what is provided in several countries. We are delighted with this visit, that allowed us to see the great progress in the medical and educational department,” she stressed.

“Agreements will be concluded to improve rehabilitation treatment for children in the Kingdom and Japan,” she hoped.

At the end of her visit, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Swailem, deputy chairman of the DCA presented Abe with a painting made for her by the children of the association.
